Joyce Robinson was determined to fulfill her dream of working on the railroad. She began her exciting career as a block operator for CONRAIL on October 14, 1977. After working numerous clerical jobs, Joyce became a brakeman on March 31, 1994, and a locomotive engineer in September 1994.

Engineer Robinson’s strong interest in railroad history and train safety motivated her to broaden her professional career by becoming an educator. She teaches railroad safety through a National Public Awareness Program, ‘OPERATION LIFESAVER.” “Joy,” as she is known, loves to teach children and educate people of all ages about the dangers of trespassing on the railroad. Joyce joined the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLE) #74 and the

National Association of Railway Business Women (NARBW). She is a member of the National Railway Historical Society (NRHS), BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS of the Capital Region, and a lifetime member of GIRLS, INC.
